Take part in Britain’s most extraordinary adventure holiday

Country House Hideout is one of the most talked-about holiday concepts of 2010 – from the pioneers of luxury camping in the UK, Feather Down Farms. This nationwide franchise offers the chance for historic houses and estates to maximise the revenue potential of their heritage with a minimal loss of privacy to their owners. It is a formula which can sit comfortably alongside existing activities, that at the same time will bring increased media visibility for the property. Its emphasis on education, ecology and regional produce will also enhance the support of your local communities.

The key elements
Country House Hideout is a holiday break concept that majors on five key elements:
• Luxury
A plumbed-in loo, luxurious beds and a private bathing tent, all form part of our guest’s personal private encampment.
• Discovery

Each family has its own Discovery Tent packed full of instruments like microscopes and telescopes for their children to experiment with.
• Nature
The guests will want to explore the flora and fauna on the estate once they have escaped their urban environment
• Carbon neutral

A pedal bike and bio-diesel provide power for the lighting whilst the stoves and hot water for bathing run on fire-wood.
• Country house estates
A unique and private setting that is both a reminder of the age of the Great Explorers and the backdrop to an unforgettable holiday.

Our guests
Our target group are prosperous educated urban families with children. They are discerning consumers looking for an experience that is out of the ordinary. A high educational element and an attractive rural setting are two things they consciously seek out. Holidays in the UK (‘staycationing’) is increasingly frequent in order to reduce carbon footprints and give their family a greater appreciation of the history and heritage of these islands.

The types of estates we would like to talk to
Through our involvement with Feather Down Farms these last five years, we are acutely aware of the degree to which estate owners are stewards of the land. Without your efforts, the landscape of Britain would look very different to how it does today. In addition you are the guardians of buildings of historic importance to the nation that demand major investments just to keep them in good repair. Finally country house owners are major employers in your local economies.

Country House Hideout can contribute towards all those goals by providing an interesting revenue opportunity, publicising your estate to a wider audience and at the same time involving and motivating your key staff as well as your community.

What we are looking for in the ideal estate is:

1. A property of historical interest in a tranquil setting. The estate should not be over-commercialised and preferably have links to the era of the Great Explorers.
2. Service oriented owners willing to have some contact with our guests, either themselves or through key staff.
3. Attractive locations on the estate where encampments can be hidden away, in or by a wooded area.

If your estate fits the bill then please contact Mark Gordon on mark@countryhousehideout.co.uk.
